About Us

Canadian Vintners Association (CVA) is the national voice of wine in Canada, created in 1967 as the Canadian Wine Institute and renamed in 2000 to better reflect the growth of this dynamic industry. CVA represents large, medium and small wineries across Canada. CVA member wineries are responsible for over 90% of all wine produced in Canada including 100% Canadian, Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA) wines and International-Canadian Blended (ICB) wine products. CVA brings together our membership to advocate on public policy initiatives by working cooperatively with governments and other stakeholders to find solutions that benefit both society and the entire Canadian wine industry.

The Canadian wine market remains strong, supported by a continuing growth in consumption as Canadians’ alcohol beverage of choice. The sales and marketing efforts of Canadian vintners will continue to drive wine sales through all of our trade channels, including estate wineries, provincial and territorial liquor boards, private retail outlets, licensed establishments, and wine agencies. Each year and every vintage provides an opportunity to launch new products that will contribute to industry growth across all price points in the Canadian wine market.

Our Role

Working closely with our members, governments, communities and a broad range of stakeholders, CVA strives to meet the business needs and policy interests of its membership. Its primary role is to foster and promote policies, rules and an economic framework which supports the growth of both domestic and export sales. We work to create a policy and business environment which supports the entire wine industry and their wine regions to make a valuable national, provincial, regional and community economic contribution.

As the only advocacy group representing the national wine industry at the federal and international level, CVA is dedicated to improving the business success and return on investment for individual wineries, while assuring the continued growth and prosperity of the entire Canadian wine industry.
