How many members does the Canadian Vintners Association have?
As of July 2006, the Canadian Vintners Association has 31 corporate members, 48 wineries in total. The British Columbia Wine Institute (BCWI), the Wine Council of Ontario (WCO) and the Winery Association of Nova Scotia (WANS) are also full association members of the CVA..
Who may join the Canadian Vintners
Association?
The Canadian Vintners Association accepts
applications from any licenced grape-based winery in Canada.
Applicants, however, require two sponsors from the existing CVA membership
Associations representing grape based wineries may also apply for
membership.
Does the Canadian Vintners
Association represent and speak for all the Canadian wine
industry?
Members
of the Canadian Vintners Association represent over 90% of
Canada’s production and exports of grape-based
wine.
How much does membership cost?
In 2001 / 2002 the minimum fee is $1000. This is for
any winery producing less than 250,000 litres per year. The
fee increases with the production level of the winery. There is also
a market share fee, which is modest for smaller wineries (about $100).
Does the Canadian Vintners Association have a publication in which companies might advertise their wine and grape industry related products?
Currently the Canadian Vintners Association does not produce any publications in which companies might advertise.

Does the Canadian Vintners Association produce an annual report?
The CVA currently does not produce an annual report that is publicly distributed.
Where may I obtain a complete list of all Canadian wineries?
The CVA does not maintain a complete and regularly updated list of Canadian Wineries. There are well over 200 wineries in Canada. As they are not all CVA members we cannot speak with absolute certainty. A list of CVA members can be found on our website: www.canadianvintners.com. You may wish to try some of these sources to help compile a list.

Outside of our membership list, the CVA does not maintain a mailing list.

The correct translation is L'association des vignerons du Canada.

Could you provide me with some information on the health benefits of wine?
We canot offer any advice on the health benefits of wine. However, a number of independent scientific articles on wine and health are included in the Wine and Health section of our website.
