PRESS STATEMENT - CANADIAN VINTNERS ASSOCIATION

BILL ROSS COMPLETES HIS TENURE AS CVA PRESIDENT

September 22, 2005

On behalf of the Board of Directors and membership of the Canadian Vintners Association, this is to advise that effective September 30, 2005 Bill Ross completes his tenure as President of our association.

Over the past five years, Bill has contributed significantly to the success of the Canadian wine industry through his strong and effective leadership of the Association. Notable highlights include achievement of the Canada – EU Wine and Spirit Agreement, the Mutual Acceptance Agreement on Oenological Practices, and the recent multi-stakeholder/industry agreement to the formal technical framework for National Wine Standards.

Bill has been a tireless and dedicated champion, working in the interests of our collective membership, establishing the CVA office in Ottawa in 2000, and guiding us through a period of significant industry change, for which we are truly appreciative.

Effective October 1, 2005, during the interim period until a successor is announced, I will assume the temporary role of Chief Operating Officer for the CVA. I am very pleased to advise that Bill has agreed to assist the organization during this transition period, in an active consulting role, which I know will be extremely valuable to me.

Let me take this opportunity to recognize and thank Bill for his dedication and his accomplishments on behalf of our industry over the past five years.

Bruce D Walker
Chair
Canadian Vintners Association
